Yesterday, the Sovereign State of Accompong (an indigenous Moorish nation of Maroons on the island of Xaymaca, modernly known as Jamaica), officially rolled out the Accompong national identification cards. Under the leadership of the honorable Chief Richard Currie and his administration which includes the likes of the honorable Sheik Anu Tafari Zion El, the Maroons of Accompong Town have taken yet another historical leap forward in the exercise of their rights as indigenous peoples.
In March, the people of Accompong ratified their constitution, taking the first step on the road of statehood. Since the establishment of an official State named the Sovereign State of Accompong, despite the various political challenges that made international headlines, the government has been diligently making great strides in its fiduciary duties for its citizens.
On October 17, Chief Richard Currie issued a press release detailing Phase 1 of the identification program’s rollout. In it, he stated:
All previously registered Maroons who’s names appear on the 2021 Maroon electoral list will receive a FREE identification card.
He went on to say “All Maroons locally and overseas will receive further instructions on October 25th, 2022 on how to apply for a Accompong Maroon National Identification. All natural persons inhabiting the archipelago of Jamaica and overseas who can trace their ancestry to the Maroon heritage, culture and bloodline will have an opportunity to qualify for a status within the constitutional fold of the Sovereign State of Accompong.”
Accompong National Identification Cards
Fortunately, while conducting research into my family’s lineage in 2019 for a project that would become the precursor of the BeyRoots Ancestry Kit, I discovered that my maternal Great-Grandmother was known to be a Maroon. Therefore, I and all of her descendants, could apply for an Accompong National Identification Card under the existing laws of the State.
The Moorish State governments of the mainland (Northwest Amexem / Northwest Morocco / North America) are not too far behind Accompong with the issuance of identification cards for their citizens / nationals. Allodium Moorish Praedium Ante Georgia (AMPAG) and others are set to issue State Identification Cards soon. Moors of various territories are encouraged to organize their State governments if none currently exists under the preexisting authority of the Moroccan Empire. When the time comes, I’d be more than happy to offer my Graphic Design services to create your identification cards as well.
